I spent more time on forums trying to figure out how to do something simple or often something that seemed impossible to not be a feature only to find it was not possible in the current version of FCPX.Ĭertainly FCPX is perfectly suited for some users, especially those who did not cut their teeth in FCP7. Although I enjoy many features of FCPX I do not think it has the capabilities and ease of use that FCP7 offers. I’ll be taking my clips and putting them back into FCP7 where I should have put them in the beginning. Unfortunately none of your color correction, effects, or retiming will come along but at least you can export JUST the clips you want from larger files without exporting them one by one. xml file created from FCPX and choose your destination output including making QT master files or reference files. However, if you want to export clips out of their master files into something like Nuke or to slim down a project to only it’s useful clips (or put back in FCP7 because you hate FCPX…) you’re pretty much SOL. Here is project folder with all the original rushes plus the Clip Exporter clips. If you were going to edit and only edit in FCPX you don’t need this tool, you can use their system which copies entire referenced clips around and export master copies. I’ve been struggling with FCPX since 10.0.1 and even with the update to 10.1 I still have a huge complaint which is the death of media manager. ![]()
